On Sunday, September 1, 2024, just after 8 p.m., officers with the Westminster Police Department responded to a reported hit-and-run crash in the 2800 block of West 72nd Avenue.

Once on scene, officers learned two pedestrians, a 46-year-old female and 52-year-old male, were hit. Both victims were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The female victim was later pronounced deceased at the hospital and the male remains in serious condition. The suspect vehicle left the scene, but was quickly located by officers. A 19-year-old male suspect was taken into custody on hit-and-run charges and transported to the Adams County Jail. Additional charges may be pending. Alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash.

The identity of the deceased female will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.

It should be noted that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
