Date – June 9, 2024

Last evening around 8:00pm, Westminster Police received a call about a possible physical domestic violence incident occurring in the 12000 block of Melody Drive.

The original reporting party was able to provide a description of the suspect vehicle, which left the area before officers arrived.  The information on the vehicle was provided to surrounding agencies.  A short time later Thornton Police received a call from the area of 12000 Colorado Boulevard about a female who had been shot in a car, which matched the description from our incident.  Westminster and Thornton Officers attempted to find the car, but were unable to locate it.

Information was then received from an area hospital about a female gunshot victim.  Officers responded to the hospital and were informed the female victim had died from her injuries.

Police have also been in contact with the driver of the car.

The identity of the female victim will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.

The male suspect was taken into custody on the charge of First-Degree Murder.  He will be housed at the Adams County Detention Facility.

It should be noted all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
