WESTMINSTER, Colo – Westminster Police are investigating a crash that left one dead early Wednesday morning on US 36.

Just before 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025, officers responded to a three-vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of US 36, just west of Church Ranch Blvd. Preliminary information indicates a road rage incident occurred between two drivers, eventually ending in a confrontation on US 36. The driver of a truck exited his vehicle to confront the other driver, but was then hit by a SUV traveling westbound on US 36. The 30-year-old driver of the truck was transported to the hospital and was later pronounced deceased. Westbound US 36 was shut down for several hours.

Alcohol may be a factor with the driver of the truck (deceased) as an open alcohol container was found in his vehicle. No charges have been filed yet pending the investigation.

The deceased driver’s identity will be released by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

It should be noted that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
