WESTMINSTER, Colo --- On Feb. 26, just before 3:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a stolen truck near 120th Ave and I-25. A plan was quickly set in motion and stop sticks were successfully deployed. The truck lost three tires and came to a stop, but the situation escalated when the driver attempted to escape on foot, while the passenger jumped into the driver’s seat and drove away.

Officers quickly caught the original driver, as well as the passenger—now behind the wheel of the stolen vehicle. There was a third suspect in the vehicle who was also taken into custody and wanted for several felony warrants. Officers found drug paraphernalia and more than a dozen vehicle keys & key fobs inside the vehicle.

The three suspects are facing multiple charges, including motor vehicle theft, resisting arrest and vehicular eluding. Hopefully they learned their lesson because we don't tolerate this type of behavior in Westminster.

It should be noted that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

After the vehicle came to a stop, the driver attempted to escape on foot.

Officers found more than a dozen vehicle keys & key fobs inside the vehicle.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers noted that the ignition had been tampered with / destroyed.
