WESTMINSTER, Colo -- The Westminster Police Department joined forces with the Westminster Fire Department, Colorado State Patrol and Standley Lake High School for the Every 15 Minutes program — a simulation designed to show the real consequences of impaired driving.
The simulation was staged at Standley Lake High School in Westminster, CO. (Courtesy: AMO Kuhlman)
Just one day before prom, SLHS students witnessed a staged fatal DUI crash complete with emergency response, student actors & simulated injuries and a DUI arrest. This emotional experience challenges students to think about the life-changing effects of drinking and driving — not just on themselves, but on their families, friends and community.
A simulated DUI arrest by CSP was part of the program.
Huge thanks to the WPD SRO Team, WPD Traffic Unit, Westminster Fire Department, CSP, Flight For Life, Jeffco Public Schools and Standley Lake HS administrators and student actors who made this possible. Another special thanks to AMO Kuhlman for capturing some of these shots.
We're proud to be part of this impactful event and hope it inspires smart, safe decisions.
